Apple acquires Sneaky Sasquatch’s RAC7, its first game studio

Big things coming?

Apple has acquired its first-ever game studio in RAC7, the makers of popular Apple Arcade title Sneaky Sasquatch.

RAC7 is a two-person dev team with a catalogue of titles that includes Sneaky Sasquatch, Dark Echo, and Splitter Critters.

“We love Sneaky Sasquatch and are excited that the 2-person RAC7 team has joined Apple to continue their work on it with us,” an Apple spokesperson said to Digital Trends. “We will continue to deliver a great experience for Apple Arcade players with hundreds of games from many of the best game developers in the world.”

The acquisition has fuelled speculation that Apple is planning to beef up its gaming presence. 9to5 Mac reports that Apple is planning to combine functionality from the App Store and Game Centre, which Bloomberg has corroborated with a similar report.
