Apex Legends Season 20 brings 120Hz, Legend updates and more

And it's coming 13 February.

Apex Legends Season 20 will launch on 13 February and brings with it Legend updates, a 120Hz mode on supported consoles, and more.

Celebrating five years of the battle royale, the 20th season — titled Breakout — will bring a 120Hz mode for those on Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X, and PS5 — provided your TV or monitor also supports that refresh rate — alongside haptics and adaptive triggers for your controllers.

The season will also remove shields from the map, but in their place will be a new upgrade system that will let you trade earned Evo for upgrades. The final upgrade in the path — of which you’ll always get two choices between gear when hitting an upgrade level — is the powerful red shield.

If you’re a fragger, don’t worry — shields will still be lootable from players’ deathboxes.

Breakout will also completely reset ranks and reintroduce Ranked Points to the game. Matchmaking will be determined by said Ranked Points and not by the defunct Matchmaking Ranking. Time to jump back in?

Apex Legends is currently available on Windows PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X, PS4, PS5, and Switch. Expect Breakout from 13 February.
