Anthem servers are shutting down in January 2026

There's little time left to get your Iron Man fix.

Anthem servers will shut down for good in mid-January 2026, EA and BioWare have today announced.

“After careful consideration, we will be sunsetting Anthem on January 12, 2026,” reads a post from EA. “This means that the game will still be playable online for the next 180+ days.”

EA added, that “Anthem was designed to be an online-only title so once the servers go offline, the game will no longer be playable.”

In-game currency is no longer purchasable as a result, with players encouraged to spend their remaining balances ahead of the shutdown.

EA also added that the decision to shut down Anthem “has not led to any layoffs”.

We reviewed Anthem back in 2019, awarding it a 6/10.

Anthem is fun to play, most of the time, though it definitely doesn’t execute the looter shooter genre very well suggesting that maybe it wasn’t always destined to be one,” Hamish wrote.

“BioWare has all the pieces of the puzzle, but right now Anthem isn’t living up to its potential,” Hamish added… though now it’s clear that a fixed never took place.

Anthem is currently available on Windows PC, Xbox One, and PS4.
