Animal Crossing Pocket Camp to be shutdown, offline app coming

What a fantastic way to shutdown a live service game.

Animal Crossing Pocket Camp will be shutdown by Nintendo, but there’s great news on the horizon: it’ll be replaced by an offline app instead.

“Thank you for playing Animal Crossing Pocket Camp,” begins an update from Nintendo. “Service for the… smartphone app will end on November 28, 2024 at 3:00 pm UTC.”

That corresponds to 2.00 am AEDT on 29 November here in Australia.

“We would like to express our deepest gratitude to everyone who has supported the title since service began,” Nintendo continued. “We will continue to hold events and add items until the service-end date.”

Finally, Nintendo advised that “we are developing a version of Animal Crossing Pocket Camp that users can continue to play with their existing save data”.

More news on the offline app will be available in October; we’ll keep you informed as we learn more.

Animal Crossing Pocket Camp is currently available on iOS and Android smartphones.
