An HD version of The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker heading to Wii U this year

Zelda fans, last night’s Nintendo Direct gave you good news and bad news about the franchise.

The good news is that a new Wii U Zelda game is currently being developed. The bad news is that it won’t be out for some time. More good/bad news is that Nintendo is releasing an HD version of The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker to tide you over until the new game is available.

The redeveloped game comes complete with new graphics, a “tuned” game play experience and Miiverse integration.

Nintendo has also released several screenshots for the upcoming remake:
