Amiibo, Nintendo’s figurines, explained; available for holiday 2014

At today’s Nintendo E3 Direct event, the company’s Amiibo figurines were explained.

Super Smash Bros. on Wii U will be the first Nintendo game to use the technology, with the figurines acting as companions as you fight. The figuring characters will level up as you fight, and you can customise them as well.

Amiibo will also be used in Mario Kart 8, Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker, Mario Party 10 and Yoshi’s Wooly World, with more to come.

Expect Amiibo alongside Super Smash Bros. on Wii U in time for the holiday 2014 season.
