American McGee’s Spicy Horse studio working on a Wizard of Oz title

Yesterday on the Alice: Otherlands Facebook page, an eager fan suggested that American McGee’s Spicy Horse studio work on a Wizard of Oz title if it couldn’t secure the rights to another Alice sequel, to which the studio replied, “It’s already in the works.”

Joystiq was quick to follow-up on the post, asking if Spicy Horse meant that it was continuing development on a shelved Oz title started back in 2004. For the record, they are not.

“This is not, in any way, shape or form, the title from 2004,” Spicy Horse community manager Kelly Heckman clarified with Joystiq.

Heckman offered scant details on the new American McGee Oz title but did say that, “it will be based on the entire Oz series – almost all 14 titles – so expect to see unique things not seen in previous incarnations.”

Spicy Horse released Alice: Madness Returns in 2011 and is currently in talks with EA to obtain the Alice license for Alice: Otherlands. They’ve currently got two Kickstarters planned, one for Alice: Otherlands and one for this proposed Oz game. Which one would you fund?
