Amazon Prime price hike begins next month

Amazon Prime subscriptions will increase in price from the middle of next month, Amazon has confirmed.

From 11 May, new members will pay $119 USD per year for a subscription, up from $99 USD right  now. Current members will switch to the new pricing structure at their time of renewal, from 18 June.

Prime Student memberships will cost $59 USD a year from those same dates.

If users opt to pay monthly, they’ll be charged $12.99 USD per month for Prime, or $6.49 USD per month for Prime Student.

This is the first time Prime pricing has been increased in four years.

Despite the price increase, Prime users get a variety of benefits including several free PC games a month. Click here for April 2018’s Games with Prime, and here for May 2018’s Games with Prime.
