Amazon Prime Australia now available, 2-day shipping offered

Amazon Prime Australia is officially a thing, with the retailer offering free 2-day shipping to those Australians who subscribe to the program.

A yearly Australian Amazon Prime subscription will cost $59 AUD, and while that’s a drastic reduction from the American price of $119 USD, it’s because we’ve got a smaller selection of goods combined with higher retail prices to contend with.

Amazon has confirmed that around 90% of Australians will be eligible for 2-day shipping, with confirmed metro locations detailed here. Non-metro areas that didn’t make the list will have access to expedited 3- to 5-day shipping instead.

Aussies also have to remember that Amazon US will no longer ship items to our country from July of this year.

In addition to the free 2-day shipping, Prime members also get access to the Amazon Prime video streaming service, access to over 1,00 free eBooks and comics with Prime Reading and access to Twitch Prime.

Australians can access a free trial of Amazon Prime, after which a monthly subscription will be priced at 5 AUD until January 2019. After that time, a monthly subscription will be priced at $7 AUD.

Will you give Amazon Prime Australia a try? It’s a good time to check it out — the retailer is currently offering a buy one get one free sale on a number of titles.
