Alan Wake 2 will remain in third-person view

A transition to survival horror doesn't mean a change to first-person.

Alan Wake 2 will remain in third-person view, Remedy’s Sam Lake has recently confirmed.

Lake took to Twitter to confirm the sequel’s view alongside word that original actors Ilkka Villi and Matthew Poretta would be reprising their role as Alan Wake (in appearance and voice, respectively).

“A couple of easy clarifications before we go dark to continue the work,” Lake wrote. “Yes, this is a 3rd person game. Yes, both Ilkka Villi and Matthew Porretta return in the role of Alan Wake.”

Fans may have been confused about the third- to first-person thing as Alan Wake 2‘s reveal trailer featured a number of sweeping shots of locales like Bright Falls and the dark woods. The shots were merely meant to represent vistas and weren’t indictative of a Resident Evil 7-like shift to first-person.

We’ll have more on Alan Wake 2 as it becomes available. The title is expected in 2023 on Windows PC, Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X and PS5.
