Alan Wake 2 delayed later into October to make room for Spider-Man

A wise move by Remedy?

Alan Wake 2 has been delayed by 10 days to make room for other huge October 2023 releases including Spider-Man 2 and Super Mario Wonder.

This now means we can expect Alan Wake 2 on 27 October and not 17 October.

“October is an amazing month for game launches and we hope this date shift gives more space for everyone to enjoy their favorite games,” Remedy said in a tweet. “We can’t wait to show you what everyone’s favorite novelist is up to in the Dark Place next week. Thanks for your patience!”

The mention of “next week” is in direct reference to Gamescom 2023, at which more of the sequel will be shown. We’ll be back here with new information as it’s made available.

This isn’t the first game to shift its October release date; we assume that Assassin’s Creed Mirage moved earlier into October for much the same reasons. This change means that Alan Wake 2 comes out just one day after the reimagined Alone in the Dark.

Alan Wake 2 heads to Windows PC, Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X and PS5 on 27 October 2023. Check out our recent Summer Game Fest preview here, and our interview with Sam Lake and Kyle Rowley here.
