Alan Wake 2 a “30FPS experience”; Performance mode on current-gen

And we've not long to wait.

Alan Wake 2 has been designed as a “30FPS experience” that will also offer a Performance mode on Xbox Series X and PS5, Remedy has recently confirmed.

The details come from Remedy’s communications head, Thomas Puha, via social media.

“I’m glad to say that Alan Wake 2 will have a Performance mode on PS5 and Xbox Series X,’ Puha wrote. “The game has been built from the beginning as a 30fps experience focusing on visuals and ambiance, but somehow we have managed to include a solid Performance mode.”

Puha has promised to “talk details later” — though he doesn’t have much time to do so; after years (YEARS!) of waiting, Alan Wake 2 heads to PC and consoles next month. We’ve reached out to see if a Performance mode will also be offered on Xbox Series S.

Update: Speaking with Stevivor, Puha has confirmed that “there is no Performance mode on Xbox Series S”.

Alan Wake 2 heads to Windows PC, Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X and PS5 on 27 October 2023. Check out our recent Summer Game Fest preview here, and our interview with Sam Lake and Kyle Rowley here.
