Activision lays off staff at Infinity Ward, Beenox and more

Over the weekend, Kotaku has reported that Activision has laid off 5% of its total workforce. The layoffs seem to centre around corporate office positions alongside development studios Beenox, Infinity Ward and more.

Twenty staff members have been released from Infinity Ward, just days after Activision acknowledged that its latest, Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, “underperformed expectations”.

Gamasutra adds that the in-house QA team at Beenox has been let go. The publisher last worked on Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered.

In an official statement, Activision said it was “realigning… resources to support our upcoming slate and adapt to the accelerating transition to digital, including opportunities for digital add-on content.”

We’ll have more on the layoffs as it comes to light.
