We found the setting so you don't have to hunt for it!
Elden Ring Nightreign is out tomorrow, and offers up either single-player or mulitplayer action. This guide shows you how you can play in either mode.
We had a bit of trouble finding where to toggle between modes, even going as far as going into offline mode in settings. This, sadly, doesn’t do anything apart from restrict you from multiplayer matchmaking. We’d honestly suggest leaving that setting as online.
If you want to play in single-player, you’ll need to head to the Expeditions area of the Roundtable and launch into the expeditions menu. There, toggle over to Matchmaking Settings (using R1 on PS5, as an example), and scroll all the way to the bottom to find Expedition Type. There, you can change between Single Player or Multiplayer. The latter mode will matchmake you with two additional players so you can start exploring.
Looking to play a two-player mode? Well, you can’t… at least, not now. Two-player support may come in a post-launch patch. Crossplay is available between PS4 and PS5, or Xbox One and Xbox Series consoles; cross-platform play isn’t possible.
Expect Elden Ring Nightreign from 30 May 2025 on Windows PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X, PS4, and PS5. We reviewed it here.
