How to change the appearance of gear in Hogwarts Legacy

Get the look you want.

Hogwarts Legacy is out now, and while you get to choose the look of your own character at the beginning of the game, the RPG demands you continually swap out your gear for better stats.

This guide is all about changing the appearance of your gear in Hogwarts Legacy so you can play at peak performance without looking like a bit of a fool.

On Xbox, players will hit the Hamburger button —  you know, the one with three lines — to get to a menu where you can select Gear. In that menu, do the following:

  • Hover over the piece of gear that you want to change the apperance of (Facewear, as an example).
  • Hit to change appearance (or look at the bottom of the tooltip that appears on other platforms for the correct prompt).
  • On the next screen, select the item you’d like to have your current gear look like (including an option for nothing) and select to confirm.
  • Voila! All finished. Repeat for other pieces of gear as needed.

That’s all there is too it. Hovering over Cloaks and Robes will also present you the option to toggle a hood, if available.

Hogwarts Legacy is out now on Windows PC, Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X and PS5. We reviewed it here… and included an in-depth look at the horrifying legacy of Harry Potter JK Rowling’s transphobic words and actions.
