Atari wants to make an Alone in the Dark TV show or webseries

Atari CEO Frederic Chesnais says the publisher is looking to take a transmedia approach with its IP, moving into movies, television shows and webseries. Chesnais used Alone in the Dark as an example of the strategy.

“We’re working towards moving a little bit away from games but stay as close as possible to games,” he said, in discussion with Stevivor earlier in the week. “To expand to other platforms. The brand is trans-media.

“We’ve already had one of our games [Missile Command] in [Adam Sandler’s] Pixels. There are also other properties we’re working on — we’re working on a TV show based on an Atari game. An example I can give you is Alone in the Dark,” he said. “We’ve been approached to do some TV series or a webseries.”

“We haven’t found the right partner, but this is something we’re definitely looking at.”

The latest Alone in the Dark game was Illumination, released earlier in the year on Windows PC.

We’ll have more from our interview with Chesnais, including a discussion of Atari’s upcoming Pridefest, throughout the rest of the week.
