It's all about the story...
Our second week of the Stevivor Game of the Year (GOTY) 2025 awards program finishes up today with honours for best narrative of the year.
Stories are perhaps the most important bit of a game, and we’ve eaten well in 2025. In a very close race, Stevivor staffers awarded Clair Obscur Expedition 33 with this award.
“Expedition 33 tells a high-concept fantasy story: in a world similar to our own, things were torn apart 67 years ago in an event called the Fracture,” Matt explained in his review (in case you’ve been living under a rock and didn’t know the game’s premise).
“Physics [have] lost meaning, the city of Paris — known here as Lumiere — was ripped out of the world and flung into the distant ocean, and deadly monsters called Nevrons sprung up worldwide.”
Coming in second and third, respectively, were Konami’s Silent Hill f and Supergiant’s Hades 2.
Our Game of the Year 2025 awards program picks back up next week with three final categories. Up first is Best Direction of 2025.
