Surprise!
We’re full steam ahead with our Stevivor Game of the Year (GOTY) 2025 awards program and using today to honour the best indie game of the year.
This category was fun — and maybe a little surprising. While we awarded Clair Obscur Expedition 33 our best RPG of 2025, we aren’t giving it this award. Instead, Stevivor staffers voted in large numbers for Ball x Pit, the brick-breaker darling from Kenny Sun.
In a 10/10 review, Steve praised Ball x Pit for its “fun sense of progression, coupled with 10-15 minute gameplay runs (that usually end up with you saying, “just one more!”),” concluding he could “recommend Ball x Pit to just about anyone”.
“With a $14.99 USD price tag to boot — and access via Xbox Game Pass if you’re not super-angry with Microsoft right now — this one’s not only a no-brainer, but one of the best games of 2025,” he added.
Coming in second and third, respectively, were Supergiant’s Hades 2 and Sandfall Interactive’s Clair Obscur Expedition 33.
Our Game of the Year 2025 awards program keeps on keeping on; next up is our award for Best Audio in a game this year.
