Old Time Hockey announced for Xbox One, PS4 and PC; due early next year

Developer V7 Entertainment has today announced Old Time Hockey, an NHL 94-esque affair that wants to reflect upon the good ol’ days.

V7 Director, Karthik Venkateshan, says the title counts the aforementioned NHL 94 alongside Blades of Steel, NBA Jam and Tecmo Bowl as inspirations. Those past titles are clearly visible in the game’s announcement trailer:

Best yet, the game has a Beer mode control scheme that allows real-life players to hold their drink while they’re on-screen personas tear up the ice. Buddies can also fight alongside one another with couch co-op.

“We also developed a hilarious story mode to wrap all the hijinks together,” Venkateshan added. “It’s a daring concept to incorporate narrative into a sports game but we think players will get a kick out of it.”

We’re getting the 1970s storyline takes a page (or two) from Slap Shot.

An exact date and pricing has not yet been confirmed, but expect Old Time Hockey early in 2017 on Windows PC, Xbox One and PS4. For more, head here.
