Destiny’s “Rise of Iron” skips PS3, Xbox 360; here’s what last-gen Guardians can do

Bungie used its weekly update to confirm that Destiny‘s “Rise of Iron” expansion is for PS4 and Xbox One only.

Destiny on PS3 and Xbox 360 is now termed the “Legacy” version of the game. Those that wish to get new expansions and experiences will have to upgrade to a current-gen console.

From August 2016, Guardians will be split between last- and current-gen editions of the game, meaning you can potentially have two separate Guardians between Xbox 360 and Xbox One, as an example.

“As legacy generation Guardians adapt to current platforms after August, there will be functionality in place to enable them to port their characters to the new console – in the same family,” Bungie confirmed.

Those who upgrade have to stay in the same console family, so Xbox to Xbox or PlayStation to PlayStation.

Destiny‘s “Rise of Iron” expansion heads to Xbox One and PS4 from 20 September. Those who pre-order the content will gain access to the Iron Gjhallarhorn.
