Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer introduces amiibo cards

It looks like those rumoured amiibo NFC cards are actually real, but not being used in the way we expected.

At today’s Nintendo Direct, Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer was announced. The 3DS title will use new, Animal Crossing-themed amiibo cards. Said cards will scan and insert characters into the title.

At the same time, a new amiibo reader will be released that will add amiibo functionality to the old-school 3DS and 3DS XL.

Expect the game, the new cards and the amiibo reader this spring.
