Wave 2 amiibos: Good luck finding Little Mac, Pit

Wave 2 of Nintendo’s amiibos has been released to the wild, and already, two of them appear to have sold out.

A quick canvas of five shops across three Melbourne CBD chains — Target, EB Games and JB Hi-Fi — by Stevivor this morning has shown that Little Mac and Pit had come and gone.

Moreover, most stores only had a few amiibo left, let alone variety. Melbourne CBD’s Target only had two Marios, five Pikachus and a Luigi available for purchase.

By far, Luigi is the least sought after, with multiple figurines still available at four out of five canvassed shops.

Of all stores canvassed, JB Hi-Fi seemed to have the most Wave 1 and 2 stock available, with this image taken at JB Hi-Fi’s Bourke Street location.

You can see most Wave 2 figures in the image above, including Captain Falcon, Luigi, Diddy Kong and Zelda.

All stores canvassed confirmed they’d already placed Wave 2 amiibos on shelves to have them mostly or completely sell out.

“Oh, yeah. Little Mac sold out immediately. You needed to pre-order that little guy,” a salesperson at EB Games Swanston Street told us.

That same EB had a single Pit figure remaining, and it’s expected to go soon.

Is anyone else having better luck at 10am on the morning of Wave 2’s release?

Update: We’ve updated this story after being reminded Pit is a Wave 2 amiibo as well as Little Mac. We’ve also gone to Nintendo Australia for comment. Thanks, Rob! [10.10 am]

Update 2: We’ve spoken to an EB Games salesperson who does not wish to be named in this story. The contact works in a Victorian store, and told us, “where I work, we actually got extremely short supplies in most of the Wave 2 of amiibos.

“Most if not all were either all pre-orders or we only had one in stock for shelves. In particular, we didn’t get a Little Mac for the shelves.”

We’ve gone to EB directly to see if they’ll speak of stock across Australia. [11.08 am]
