Nintendo: We’re not going to keep making every single amiibo

Like the Wii U GameCube adapter before it, Nintendo has just confirmed they won’t necessarily continue making and selling every single amiibo currently on the market.

Canadian video game store Video Games Plus lead the amiibo report, posting the following statement: “Nintendo has officially discontinued Marth, Wii Fit Trainer & Villager amibos. Sorry folks these are gone forever.”

Nintendo, when asked for comment, didn’t exactly address the allegations head-on. “We will aim for certain amiibo to always be available,” a spokesperson said in a statement to Kotaku. “These will be for our most popular characters like Mario and Link. Due to shelf space constraints, other figures likely will not return to the market once they have sold through their initial shipment.”

Our suggestion? Read between the lines, people.

Personally, my drunken purchase of Big W South Yarra’s last Wii Fit Trainer amiibo over the weekend was a great one. She’s still in her original packaging, too. Hellllllo, eBay.
