Nintendo Switch will get a “custom built” version of FIFA 18

Speaking with GameReactor, EA’s Peter Moore confirmed that the version of FIFA 18 released on Nintendo Switch will be different than the one on Windows PC, Xbox One and PS4.

“What you have will be a custom built version for the Nintendo Switch from the FIFA development team in Vancouver,” Moore said, without going into further detail on the differences.

Moore confirmed the title will be called FIFA 18, avoiding the moniker Legacy Edition, as used on FIFA and NHL titles on last-gen consoles.

“[It] will be FIFA 18, and it will obviously be later this year when FIFA 18 comes out,” Moore asserted.

FIFA 18 uses the Frostbite engine on Windows PC, Xbox One and PS4. It’s unclear at this time if the Nintendo Switch version will as well. We’ll keep you posted.

The Nintendo Switch heads to store shelves on 3 March.
