Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3: Even with Australian classification, PS4 availability will be in January 2017

Update 3: As reported by Do You Even Game Bro, a Capcom has said classification issues has lead to a February release date here in Australia.

“Due to Marvel vs Capcom 3 receiving a higher age rating in the ANZ regions the team have to make some minor changes to the rating settings of the game in order for it to release and as such there is unfortunately a delay,” a Capcom representative said. “We hope to be able to release the game for players of 15+ age in February and will have more news soon. We apologise for the delay in bringing the game to fans in this territory.”

Update 2: Despite the good news of a classification, a Capcom representative has suggested to Stevivor that we won’t see Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 on PS4 until early January 2017.

We’ll, as always, keep you posted.

Update 1: Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 has been classified M by the Australian Classification board on 21 December.

As of today, 22 December, the game is still unavailable on the Australian PlayStation Store.

We’re checking again with Capcom now for a proper update.

Original story: A Capcom representative has told Stevivor that Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 has yet to be released in Australia as the title is awaiting classification.

The digital-only game, available on PS4 in other regions since 4 December, won’t be up for purchase until reviewed by the Australian Classification Board.

The Capcom rep was unable to provide a timeframe for classification here in the country, though we’ll keep you posted as we learn more.

The news comes as US-based retailer GameStop has announced it will sell physical copies of the game on both Xbox One and PS4 in March 2017.

Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 heads to Xbox One and PC in March 2017.
