Xbox head Phil Spencer has taken to Twitter to explain why Microsoft never bothered with a handheld console.
Handheld consoles are fairly common, with Nintendo leading the charge with both the 3DS and Game Boy families. Sony’s also had a crack with the PSP and PS Vita, and even Sega with the Game Gear.
To Spencer, Microsoft has always thought that handhelds would become obsolete.

Microsoft has long touted Xbox titles, complete with Gamerscore, on Windows Phone, and has even released a handful of similar games on iOS and Android.
Did Microsoft make the right choice, choosing mobile over proper handheld gaming?
