Pre-loading digital games is usually a great service, allowing you to spend launch day for new games playing instead of watching a percentage climb up at unfathomably slow rates. Sometimes however, things go wrong, such as this issue that 343 Industries has posted on Halo Waypoint regarding Halo 5: Guardians pre-loads.
The gist of it is some users who pre-loaded Halo 5 may in fact have downloaded dummy ‘stub’ files instead of the real thing, and will need to download the game again. The easy way to check things is if your Halo 5 download clocks in at 40GB, you are good. Any other size and you’ll want to delete and reinstall. You can check out the full instructions over at Waypoint.
Halo 5: Guardians comes out 27 October exclusively for the Xbox One. Those not affected by this issue aren’t out of the woods for downloads, as the game will feature a 9GB day one patch to add in multiplayer functionality.
