Legendary Pokemon Mew, Zapdos, Moltres and more will appear in Pokémon Go sometime in 2017, Niantic Labs’ CEO has confirmed.
“I can say with certainty that we will see it more this year,” Niantic’s John Hanke told Wired Germany when specifically asked about Legendaries Mew, Mewtwo, Articuno, Zapdos and Moltres.
Data miners found the Legendary Pokémon back in mid-2016, and rumours had it special events would have meant we’d have the Pokémon in our collections by now. Ripley’s Believe It or Not offered a $5,000 cash prize to anyone who’d nab one, and a couple in Ohio claimed to have lucked out and managed to capture a Legendary had it removed from their account. To this date, not a single user (still) possesses a Legendary.
Perhaps the more important question is, does anyone still play enough to care? The game recently introduced 80 new Pokémon, so the hype may still be real.
Pokémon Go is available now on iOS and Android.
