Rainbow Six Pro League skins and charms revealed, teams get 30% of revenue

The Rainbow Six Siege revenue sharing Pilot Program has been furthered explained at the Six Major Paris, including our first look at the weapon skins and charms on offer.

The program is a means for fans to show support for their favourite Rainbow Six teams, both visually in the game and financially.

The first wave of weapon skins and charms — one of each per team — will launch with Operation Grim Sky, the Year 3 Season 3 content, and will deliver 30% of the revenue back to a selection of 10 teams chosen to participate, including Australians Fnatic. While they unfortunately didn’t make it to the quarter finals, Fnatic provided strong Aussie representation in the group stage of 16 at the Six Major Paris.

The 30% revenue share is slightly different for charms and skins. The team-branded weapon skins deliver 30% of the cost of the item directly to that team. If you buy a Fnatic skin, for example, they get 30% of that sale.

For the golden Pro League charms, it breaks down as 21% split evenly between the teams in the program and 9% added to the Rainbow Six Invitational prize pool. The 2019 Invitational is offering a share of US$500,000 (approximately AUD$683,000) + revenue sharing funds. It already stands at US$650,000 (AUD$888,000), and is expected to surpass US$1,000,000 (AUD$1,367,000) by the time the 2019 Invitational kicks off in Montréal on 11 February 2019.

The Six Invitational remains the premier event on the Rainbow Six Siege esports calendar and commands the greatest prize pool. By comparison, teams are competing for US$350,000 (AUD$478,000) at the Six Major in Paris this week — not too shabby! — but the Major has also been established as a community event to celebrate the game and its fans, leaving the Invitational at the top of the tree for pro players.
