Australia’s Mindfreak advances to the quarterfinals in the Rainbow Six: Siege Invitational 2018

After struggling on day one of the double elimination group stages at the Rainbow Six: Siege Invitational 2018, the Australian esports team Mindfreak has managed to fight their way back and push through to the main event quarterfinals.

Yesterday Mindfreak had a hand in eliminating the european qualified team ROOM FACTORY, and today they have backed it up by taking out the directly invited powerhouse esports organisation Team Liquid.

Mindfreak came out swinging with some momentum after their convincing win yesterday, taking Team Liquid 5-3 on Chalet during the first map. Liquid however dug their boots in and brought the series back to a tie breaker on Kafe Dostoyevsky with a 5-3 matchup. The final map was played on Consulate with Team Liquid taking an early 2 rounds. Mindfreak hung in though and dragged the games into overtime, where they ended up winning both final rounds 6-4 – eliminating Team Liquid from the $500,000 USD competition.

Tomorrow Mindfreak will face off against Black Dragons e-Sports, the Latin American Champions out of Brazil. The winner of this matchup will proceed into the semifinals.
