Security breach of four Crytek websites leads to possible loss of user information

Crytek voluntarily took down four of its websites over the weekend in response to ‘suspicious activity’ which was later revealed to be a security breach. A statement released by Crytek advises that the breach “may have resulted in some users’ login data being compromised.”

The four webistes involved in the breach are Crytek.com, Mycryengine.com, Crydev.net and MyCrysis.com. Navigating to any of these sites will result in the following message;

THIS SITE IS CURRENTLY OFFLINE

We recently became aware of suspicious activity relating to some of Crytek’s websites, and acted quickly to take those websites offline for security reasons.

We thank you for your patience, and expect to have these sites fully operational soon.

“Our Crytek.com, Mycryengine.com, Crydev.net and MyCrysis.com sites were all subject to a security breach that may have resulted in some users’ login data being compromised.” reads Crytek’s statement. “Although it is uncertain whether the incident led to the copying and decryption of email addresses and passwords, it is possible that users with accounts at these websites have had personal data copied.”

As a counter measure Crytek have advised that “Next time account holders visit crydev.net, mycryengine.com or mycrysis.com, they will be asked to change their passwords during log in.”

Do you have an account on any of these sites? Are you concerned?
