XCOM developer Firaxis Games’ new project to be revealed at Gamescom; may be another XCOM

2K Games have confirmed that Firaxis Games — developer of XCOM: Enemy Unknown — new project will be revealed at Gamescom in Germany later this month. The publisher confirmed the news with Polygon who speculate that the unannounced project may be the next game in the XCOM franchise.

A listing for XCOM: Enemy Within appeared on the Korean Ratings Board earlier this week and was reported by CVG. The board described the title as a strategy third person shooter available for PC, PS3 and Xbox 360. The Bureau: XCOM Declassified due for a release later this month is a strategic third person shooter, but not a sequel to XCOM: Enemy Unknown.

A 2K representative told Polygon via email that “Fans will be able to get hands-on time on the Consumer Showfloor with The Bureau: XCOM DeclassifiedNBA 2K14 and WWE 2K14, [and see] a hands-off presentation of the currently unannounced project from Firaxis Games.”
