Xbox social functionality coming to Windows 10 in latest preview update

Xbox updates now cover more devices than ever, with Microsoft listing the latest Preview features for Xbox One, Smartglass and the Xbox app for Windows 10. The line between Xbox One and Windows 10 Xbox app functionality has blurred as many of the social features of the Xbox One come to Windows 10 in this update.

Those social features include Avatar editing, profiles, real name sharing and recently played lists. On the technical side there are improved Xbox One controller drivers for PC and Game DVR and screenshot functionality for PC games. Of special note is the ability to use the Xbox One Digital TV Tuner to stream live television to your PC with picture in picture support.

Xbox One and Smartglass users get a few improvements too, such as being able to power on/off the Xbox One using Smartglass (limited to Windows Phone, Tablet and Android devices), Wireless Display to stream video and images from your PC to your Xbox One, on the fly power settings and voice messaging.

You can check out the full change list on Major Nelson’s blog. Preview members should be seeing these updates shortly.
