Xbox Live Rewards program given a makeover

The Xbox Live Rewards program has been given a makeover with new ways to earn and reap the benefits of shopping on Xbox Live.

The changes have been detailed by Game Informer and they appear to add new ways for players to earn credit, including for things they may already currently be doing. Users are now also ranked by stars; the higher the stars, the larger the rewards.

Spending $150 in a year will earn you one star which nets you an automatic 1% rebate. Additional stars will increase the rebate up to a maximum of 5 percent, with Gold members getting double, up to a maximum of 10 percent. The rebates apply any purchases made on Xbox Live, be it games, movies or DLC.

MyMissions allows players to track earning opportunities while MyStats allows for comparisons of Xbox Live usage between friends. Earning points which can be converted into store credit is still a major component of the program with Microsoft continuing to offer promotions. Currently, customers who purchase three games on demand between 4 September and 30 November will receive 20,000 credits which equates to $20. By participating in monthly surveys players will earn additional credits.
