Xbox Live Creators Program allows Xbox Live-enabled indie publishing on Xbox One, PC

Microsoft today detailed the Xbox Live Creators Program, a scheme designed so anyone can “rapidly publish” Xbox Live-enabled games to Xbox One and Windows 10 PC.

“With the Creators Program, anyone can integrate Xbox Live sign-in, presence, and social features into their UWP [Universal Windows Platform] games, then publish their game to Xbox One and Windows 10,” a new post on Xbox Wire reads.

“This means their title can see exposure to every Xbox One owner across the Xbox One family of devices, including Project Scorpio this holiday, as well as hundreds of millions of Windows 10 PCs, and millions of folks using the Xbox app on mobile platforms.”

The scheme isn’t replacing ID@Xbox, with Microsoft saying those taking advantage of the Xbox Live Creators Program can then sign up to ID@Xbox for more development tools.

Those interested can download the Xbox Live Creators Program SDK here. The program is in preview stage, so not everyone will be able to access it immediately.

Microsoft also recently announced the Xbox Game Pass, a subscription-based service that allows for Netflix-like rental of Xbox 360 and Xbox One games on the current-gen console.
