This is how to transfer Borderlands 2 and Pre-Sequel saves into The Handsome Collection

Gearbox has detailed how players can transfer their Borderlands 2 and The Pre-Sequel save files to Borderlands: The Handsome Collection on PS4 and Xbox One.

As is standard with these cross-gen, save transfer situations, saves can only be transferred between the same console family: PS3 and Vita to PS4 and Xbox 360 to Xbox One. To facilitate the save transfer a patch will be released for both Borderlands 2 and The Pre-Sequel. When installed, players will be able to transfer one save file at a time by selecting the option for either Cross-Save (PlayStation) or Cloud Save (Xbox) from the games’ main menus. Once a save has been uploaded from last-gen it must first be downloaded on current-gen before uploading another save.

Players on Xbox will only be able to transfer saves from Xbox 360 to Xbox One and not the other way. Players on PlayStation will be able to transfer saves between all three systems (PS3, PS4 and Vita) without restriction; obviously only saves for Borderlands 2 will be compatible with Vita as The Pre-Sequel is not available on the handheld. A day-one patch for The Handsome Collection will need to be downloaded and installed on both PS4 and Xbox One in order to transfer saves.

Details of what exactly will and won’t transfer over and what players should and shouldn’t expect can be found on Gearbox’s post.

Borderlands: The Handsome Collection will be available for PS4 and Xbox One on 26 March.
