Valve are open to community designed Steam controller mods

Valve are nothing if not ambitious, and talking with Engadget this week designer Erik Johnson revealed that one day they would like to be able to simply sell the electronic components of the Steam controller and let users make their own shells. You can check out the full interview here.

Valve has to get through the launch of the Steam controller and the associated Steam Machines first, something that will be happening over the next month. Flexibility in controller design is not something gamers are used to, but being able to craft a controller to your own hand size and preferences sounds like a great idea to me.
