Truck containing special edition copies of Splatoon stolen on route to GAME UK

A truck carrying a shipment of special edition copies of Splatoon has been stolen on route to GAME UK.

The theft was reported to customers in an email from GAME (via Games Radar) advising that due to the theft it will be unable to fulfill pre-orders of the special edition. The special edition includes a copy of Splatoon and Squid Inkling amiibo. Customers with affected pre-orders are being offered a copy of the game and a £10 discount off the cost, but will still receive the Boy and Girl Inkling amiibo. Customers are also being offered the opportunity to cancel their order if they choose.

In a statement to MCV, Nintendo confirmed the theft and advised that as such those pre-orders are unable to be fulfilled. GAME UK confirmed in their email to affected customers, that the shipment that was stolen was their entire allocation of special edition copies and will not be receiving replacement stock.

We knew that amiibo were in high demand, but this is just getting ridiculous. Let’s hope nothing like this happens in Australia.

Splatoon is exclusive to Wii U.
