The next open world Hitman game won’t feature microtransactions according to the European CEO of Square Enix Phil Rogers. “”We want to keep the business model very simple,” he said. “There’s going to be one price, so we’re not talking micro-transactions, and it allows us to evolve the content itself… Gamers don’t want unfinished content.”
It seems that Square Enix may have ditched the idea of microtransactions altogether for most of their triple-A titles, realizing that games can make their money back across their lifetime rather than all at once. “Big games have big expectations. We know that the investments that we’re making are large, and it’s a job to manage that well. But we’ve learned from that experience, over the lifetime of a product, is that things can work out well.”
