Sydney gets its first gaming bar in Spawn Point

Move over Mana Bar Brisbane (and vale Melbourne, while we’re at it) — Spawn Point looks set to become Sydney’s first game-centric bar.

Owner Ben Mudie confirmed details of the venue with Kotaku Australia, saying the bar will reside in the basement of 199 Clarence Street, Sydney. That’s pretty much smack dab in the middle of Town Hall and Wynyard stations.

From the floor plans — which you can see over on Kotaku — it’s going to be a bit of a squishy, “cosy” setup. Then again, who doesn’t mind getting all-close-and-personal with fellow gamers? Especially when alcohol’s involved?

The venue seeks to have a mixture of consoles old and new.

Interested parties can also hit up Spawn Point’s Facebook page.

Update: It’s been pointed out that Sydney’s Spooning Goats currently has an Atari 2600 console and several other retro gaming pieces of flair. We’ll leave it up to you, dear readers, to decide which bar is more gamier.
