Digital games on Nintendo Switch bought from the eShop will be linked to your Nintendo Account, rather than the hardware, according to information from the system U.I.
Keen-eyed tweeter Bjoern the Switchy discovered the note from a U.I. screen seen in a YouTube unboxing.
“Your Nintendo Account contains your Nintendo eShop purchase history and current balance,” it says. “By re-linking your Nintendo Account after initialising the console, it will be possible to redownload any software or DLC purchased using that account.”

This should make transferring content between Switch consoles much easier, as you’ll be able to log-in and download any digital purchases on a new device, similar to Xbox One, PS4 and Steam. Wii U and 3DS both linked content to the individual console. When upgrading to a new 3DS, you had to have both the new and old system together to transfer content, which made trading in one for the other difficult. That should be a dilemma of the past on Switch.
