Super Mario Odyssey resolution: Game will run in 900p when docked

Super Mario Odyssey now runs in 900p when docked, a boost from the 720p resolution offered up at E3 2017.

Digital Foundry has reported on the resolution boost, confirming the game manages a smooth 60 frames-per-second docked or in handheld mode. The latter mode remains locked at 720p.

The handheld mode will half resolution during cutscenes, as well offer low-res lighting buffers, shadows and reduced draw distance.

Digital Foundry notes the same resolution tricks were employed in Nintendo’s Splatoon 2.

Super Mario Odyssey heads to the Switch on 27 October. We previewed the game here.
