Square Enix reveals a tonne of new Dragon Quest VIII 3DS remake screens

Square Enix has opened the floodgates and released a bunch of new screens for the remake of Dragon Quest VIII on 3DS.

Originally released on PS2 in 2006, the remake is scheduled to be released in Japan in August this year. The remake will include two brand new characters — Red and Morrie — who will add extra scenarios and story elements to the title.

The port will also include StreetPass functionality, but Square Enix has not revealed how it will work at this stage. There’s no word on whether this port will see the light of day outside of Japan, but JRPG fans might not want to hold their breath as the previous 3DS remake (Dragon Quest VII) was not released in the west. Maybe it’s time to learn Japanese?
