If you’re one of those PS3 gamers who were affected by the 4.45 firmware update that bricked some consoles, we’ve got good news and bad news for you. The good news? A fix is coming. Bad news? It’s not going to be until Friday this week.
“We have identified the issue related to the PlayStation 3 software update [version 4.45] that impacted a small number of PS3 systems earlier this week,” Sony said to Kotaku.
“A new PS3 system software update is planned to be released on June 27 [28 June in Australia] that resolves the issue,” Sony continued.
If you don’t want to wait until the end of the week for a fix, some PlayStation gamers have suggested that power-cycling the PS3 into its safe mode could work, but Sony hasn’t confirmed that will work. Sony has taken to their forums, advising they “will also update on 6/27 when it is available, and steps on how to implement the solution.”
