Sony: The Shenmue III Kickstarter was Sega’s idea

Speaking with Engadget, Sony’s Shuhei Yoshida asserted that the Shenmue III Kickstarter was something worked out between Sega and series creator Yu Suzuki.

According to Suzuki, the reason that Sony decided to promote the Kickstarter was because it was simply “great PR”.

Shenmue III smashed through its Kickstarter goal of $2million USD in less than a day. Some have speculated Sony has backed most of the game itself.
