Sony says abandoning The Last Guardian trademark was an accident, game is still in development

The story of The Last Guardian gets weirder.

Following yesterday’s news that Sony had let the trademark on “The Last Guardian” lapse, the publisher has made a statement saying it was simply an error. Furthermore, Sony insists the game is still in development.

VentureBeat reports that Sony has filed the trademark with the intent to use it, but not as one on an existing product. The Sony lawyer normally in charge of said extensions has left the company.
