Nintendo Switch rumours: Dark Souls ports and Gamecube games via Virtual Console

Two big new Nintendo Switch rumours are circulating today, with reports suggesting the new console will have Dark Souls ports and the ability to play GameCube games via Virtual Console.

First, Let’s Play Video Games reports that From Software has a version of Dark Souls III running “at a level of performance they are happy with” on the Switch, and are currently considering porting the Dark Souls trilogy of games to the console.

It’s said that From Software may wait on Switch sales numbers before deciding to release the trilogy.

Next, Eurogamer cites sources who allege that GameCube games will finally be available via the Switch’s Virtual Console. Titles like Super Mario Sunshine, Luigi’s Mansion and Super Smash Bros. Melee will be the first titles on offer.

Moreover, the report says the Switch will offer upgrade discounts to people who’ve previously purchased Virtual Console titles on past consoles, rather than making those users pay the full price, again, for a title.

The Nintendo Switch hits store shelves in March. We’ll learn more about the console in January.
