The Verge today reports that this is that year that Microsoft will enable functionality that could turn retail Xbox One consoles into fully-fledged dev kits.
The report continues to say that universal apps — promoted with Microsoft’s recent Windows 10 reveal — will hit the Xbox One at around the same time.
Microsoft is said to confirm this during its 2015 Build conference, scheduled for April.
Early last year, it was suggested that Xbox One consoles had the potential to be turned into dev kits, making it easier and relatively inexpensive for developers to work on games for the platform.
