Rumours continue that The Phantom Pain features microtransactions

The Playstation Store entry for Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain has possibly revealed that the game will feature microtransactions. The phrase “In-game purchases optional” appears in the description of the game, and while that is not elaborated on it coincides with some recent hands on previews that in game currency could be used to speed up base development and that this currency could be purchased for real cash.

Not that Konami deserve the benefit of the doubt in any situation given recent treatment of their games division but this could also just be referencing the Metal Gear Online microtransaction options or it could mean less insidious downloadable content like extra skins. Chances are far more likely that if you don’t want to earn cash in MGSV, you’ll be able to buy it. Thanks Konami.

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain is available 1 September for PS4, Xbox One, PS3 and Xbox 360, and 15 September for PC.
