Resident Evil Revelations 2 will be released as four weekly episodes

Capcom revealed today that Resident Evil Revelations 2 will retain the episodic format of its predecessor, but would take the concept a step further.

Resident Evil Revelations, was divided into episodic chunks –presumably to cater for the initial handheld nature of the game — even featuring a “previously on Resident Evil Revelations” bumper before beginning a new “episode.” Taking a leaf from fellow zombie game The Walking Dead’s book, Resident Evil Revelations 2 will also be split into episodes, except that the episodes will be released weekly, with four to be released in total.

The four episodes will be priced at $5.99 USD each (Australian pricing not yet confirmed) with a complete season pack comprising all four episodes plus additional content being made available at the conclusion of the four weeks for $24.99 USD. Finally, a retail disc version will be released containing all four episodes, the content from the season pack and even more additional gameplay and features. The disc version will retail for $39.99 USD.

Capcom shared details of the first episode which sees Claire Redfield and Moira Burton joining forces with Terra Save. At a party thrown by the anti-bioterror group things go amiss and Claire and Moira are knocked unconscious. Upon waking in a detention centre on an island the two leading ladies come across all manner of nasty enemies and must team up to survive.

Resident Evil Revelations 2 will be released for PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One in 2015.
